The head at St Ann’s School had a list of specifications for this project. They wanted the year 6s to leave their legacy… creating large-scale, freestanding letters spelling out ‘Respect’ They wanted to work with different materials, using different techniques with an element of building… and include their code of conduct colours! The letters had to have some way of tying, pinning, sticking or attaching messages of well-wishes from staff and other students to year 6. The letters can be positioned at various places around the school introducing a treasure hunt activity or together creating a back drop in the hall for assemblies or showcasing at community events. The participant really engaged with the project, they learnt new skills constructing the letters in small teams used tools that they have never used before. The outcome exceeded their expectations and the school are very proud of their achievements.
