A Moth for Amy: Hull City of Culture, 2017

This project was inspired by Amy Johnson (the female Aviator who flew solo from England to Australia). Artist were invited to submit designs to celebrate Amy’s pioneering flight.
From over 200 entries, short-listed designs were uploaded to an online gallery and the 55 sponsors selected their favorite. The finalists were then tasked with transfer their design onto a beautiful and elegant, fiberglass moth.
The proposal submitted by Angie was commissioned by Premier. The design was based on the iconic buildings in Australia and London with the flight paths joining the two nations. While the colour pallet was taken from both flags. It is set against the black background to symbolise the night flight of the aircraft (The Moth).
